Real Customer Stories

Every international move is the story of a home

The stories below are compiled from ReloSmart's Xiaohongshu (Little Red Book), documenting the real journeys of helping customers move from China to destinations around the world — the people, the belongings, and the memories they couldn't bear to leave behind.

"Actually, we're going to miss Shanghai"

"Actually, we're going to miss Shanghai"

Mr. L works in financial investment, and his wife is an interior designer. They've lived in Shanghai for nearly 7 years. This time, they're moving back to a quiet neighborhood in southwest London for their own home, and his wife has already started planning the renovation. Their home is filled with souvenirs from their travels: Japanese pottery, Italian glassware, Yunnan hand-carved wood pieces — each with a story. We helped them pack and ship in late February — door-to-door from Shanghai to the UK takes 7–8 weeks. Plan ahead, and your furniture arrives around the same time you do.

Ms. S, 35+, still challenging herself

Ms. S, 35+, still challenging herself

Ms. S is from Chongqing and works as a newspaper editor. Her husband is British. They lived in Shanghai for 5 years, during which she completed her UK master's degree online. This time, she headed back just in time for the graduation ceremony. The lease on their Canary Wharf apartment in London was expiring, and they planned to renovate it for their own use. She designed the home interiors herself and even shared her beloved Barcelona chair. They were returning to the UK in May but started packing in March — factoring in customs clearance and sea freight, shipping early ensures you and your belongings arrive at the same time.

A dozen family photos, crated and shipped back to Australia

A dozen family photos, crated and shipped back to Australia

Mr. R had lived in Shanghai for more than ten years and was returning to Australia for a break. He had about a dozen family photos and pictures of his children to bring home. They were not high in monetary value, but they meant a lot. After packing them, we built a full wooden crate. Shipments to Australia are subject to quarantine inspection on arrival, and a crate greatly reduces the chance of damage even after inspection. Mr. R happened to receive the delivery on the day he returned to Australia. He was thrilled and said it was the best welcome-home gift.

A 1.8-meter double bass, protected in a custom wooden crate all the way to the UK

Mr. C is a teacher at an international school in Suzhou. He didn't have much to move — mainly a 1.8-meter-tall double bass, which he was worried about damaging. Although the instrument had a hard case, for extra safety we built a custom wooden crate. It arrived in the UK without a single scratch, in perfect condition. He said he'd keep the crate for future use. This year, he recommended us to other teachers who were planning to move — having experienced our service and knowing its quality, he trusts us completely.

Goods just arrived at port — the client had only one wish: get it home before the New Year

Goods just arrived at port — the client had only one wish: get it home before the New Year

Near Chinese New Year, the customer's personal effects had just arrived at Shanghai port. Holiday logistics and staffing were affected, and the customer especially hoped to receive the shipment before the holiday so the new home could feel settled. The boxes held furniture, clothing and daily necessities, as well as familiar traces of family life. The team coordinated port handling, customs clearance, vehicles and delivery immediately, pushing every stage forward. The shipment arrived smoothly before Chinese New Year. It was not just a normal delivery; it was one extra step when the customer needed peace of mind most.

An international move entrusted in Shanghai's old alleyways

An international move entrusted in Shanghai's old alleyways

In Shanghai's old lane, we completed another cross-border shipment. From on-site assessment and professional packing to numbered management, every labeled box is a response to the customer's trust. The old house has limited space, testing on-site organization and attention to detail — standardized processes make international moving worry-free.

Narrow staircases in old Shanghai alleyways — still a smooth move

Narrow staircases in old Shanghai alleyways — still a smooth move

The narrow staircases of old Shanghai alleyways are a classic moving challenge. Our crew steadily carried items up floor by floor with zero damage throughout. The more difficult the space, the more on-site experience matters — which is why many old alleyway clients ultimately choose us.
